Corrie Star Todd Boyce Fears Fan Backlash Over Stephen Reid's Murderous Plot

Coronation Street actor Todd Boyce has admitted he is worried about the reaction from fans as his character Stephen Reid continues his killing spree. The ITV soap star has already murdered Teddy and his son Leo, and now has set his sights on Carla Connor.

Boyce revealed that co-star Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow, warned him about the backlash. 'Chris Gascoyne has been so lovely about it, he said, 'Oh mate you have no idea what you are in for when this starts,'' Boyce told Digital Spy.

The actor is concerned because Carla is a popular character, unlike his previous victims. 'Up until now he has targeted people who are relatively new characters that people haven't really got to know but this is different,' he said.

Boyce enjoys working with Ali King, who plays Carla, but fears the audience's reaction when the tables turn. 'Ali King and I have had some great scenes together, really fiery scenes and I have enjoyed that and I think people have enjoyed her getting one over on him so they will hate it when the tables are turned,' he added.

The actor is used to people reacting to his character, recalling an encounter with two ladies in a supermarket who looked terrified. 'I turned around and I saw the blood drain from their faces,' he said, adding that others tell him their partners hate him.

Meanwhile, Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Platt, has teased that her character could be next to die. 'I don't think anybody is safe. If he winks at me funny, I'm going to panic and start running from the building! Sarah is one of the closest people to him, so if she finds out, she might be the next one to go,' she told Inside Soap.
