The Platts are about to get an early Christmas shock as Jodie Ramsey's phone rings out at No.8, and Shona answers to find her face dropping. In upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, David and Shona discuss the threatening phone call and wonder if it was orchestrated by Jodie herself.
Jodie's sinister return
Jodie, played by Olivia Frances-Brown, has been absent since she mysteriously discharged herself from hospital against medical advice after being shot. The gun was stolen from Carl Webster following a dodgy deal with a local gangster, and Shona accidentally shot her sister in the stomach during a struggle.
David lied to emergency services, claiming they heard a gunshot and ran inside to find Jodie lying there. He disposed of the gun by throwing it into the canal. When Jodie woke from surgery, she backed up the cover story to DS Lisa Connor-Swain, but it was leverage for blackmail, so she could move back into Number 8.
A threatening call
David rejected Jodie, declaring their relationship done. Shona later returned to the hospital to offer her a roof over her head, but a nurse said Jodie had discharged herself and done a runner. Since then, there's been little clue to her whereabouts, aside from Brian Packham being reunited with a valuable book Jodie stole from him after it was anonymously posted through his letter box.
Now, the phone call at No.8 raises questions: Is Jodie to blame, or is someone holding her hostage? Has she turned over a new leaf, or is she up to her old tricks? The answers remain unclear as the Platts face another unsettling development.
