Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) lashed out with a vase in Coronation Street on October 27, striking a ghostly figure she believed was a threat, only to discover she had hit her traumatised young relative Lucy (Anya Dewin).
Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) returned home to find Lucy clutching her head, and the teenager accused Sally of trying to kill her, adding that she is 'just like her mum'.
Paranoia Grows While Sally Is Alone
Sally and Tim's lives changed earlier this year when Tim discovered that his cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) had killed his partner, Rachel. Richie and Rachel's teenage daughter Lucy then moved in with Tim, Sally and the Michaelis siblings.
Tim and Sally have had their work cut out with Lucy, who is deeply traumatised by what happened in her family home and often reacts with anger when she feels the need to defend herself.
In the episode, Sally and Tim received an unexpected shock when local news reported a riot at Mick Michaelis' prison. With knowledge that the dangerous man had escaped before, the couple were on edge but played it down for the sake of the children.
Halloween Night Takes a Frightening Turn
As night fell, Lucy headed off to a Halloween party at the pub with Joanie (Savanna Pennington) and Tim, while Sally stayed home alone. Her paranoia about Mick began to grow, and without Tim to reassure her, her mind went into overdrive.
Despite Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) telling Sally she did not need to worry about Mick coming for her, Sally remained on edge, and a ghost spooking her at the window did not help. Things got worse when her phone rang and there was no one on the other end, and moments later a power cut plunged Weatherfield into darkness.
When the power returned, a ghostly figure was standing right behind Sally, and she defended herself by smashing a vase over the person's head.
Lucy's Accusation Leaves Sally Devastated
When Tim arrived back home, he was horrified to find Lucy clutching her head. In distress, Lucy accused Sally of trying to kill her and said she is 'just like her mum', leaving Sally devastated.
The incident raises questions over whether Lucy will continue living with Sally and Tim.
