Gary Windass (Mikey North) has clashed with prison officer Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) in the November 2 episode of Coronation Street, after Ross threatened Marco and taunted Gary about Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).
Ross, the toxic father of Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), works as an officer at a local prison where Gary recently became an inmate following his involvement in Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder. Summer Spellman's (Harriet Bibby) love interest Marco (William Teasdale) is also inside, apparently for being a getaway driver in a robbery.
Visits at the prison
In today's episode, Maria and Summer both arrived at the prison to visit their respective partners. While Gary and Maria caught up, Summer was puzzled because Marco had not shown up. When an officer revealed that Marco was refusing to leave his cell, Gary wondered if he was being bullied.
Back in Weatherfield, Summer visited Ross and asked him to keep an eye on Marco. As he left the pub, Ross spotted Maria chatting with Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) and smirked.
Threats and taunts
As Ross began his shift at the prison, he wasted no time in threatening Marco. Fortunately, Gary arrived and was able to stop the tense situation. Clearly wanting to assert some control over Gary, Ross later found him and suggested that Idris will soon make a move on Maria after spotting them in the pub together.
Gary appears to have already worked out that Ross is bad news, but the development about Maria left him rattled. The episode, which has not yet aired on ITV1, can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
