Coronation Street fans are convinced they have worked out who will bring about the dramatic downfall of predatory teacher Megan Walsh. Viewers of the iconic ITV soap suspect that long-standing character Tracy Barlow will be the one to uncover Megan's illicit secret.
The Scandal Unfolds on the Cobbles
Megan Walsh, played by actress Beth Nixon, has been embroiled in a covert and illegal affair with teenager Will Driscoll for several months. Will has only recently turned sixteen. In a bid to cover her tracks, Megan began a relationship with fellow teacher Daniel Osbourne and secured a job at Weatherfield High.
The plot thickened during the episode aired on 14 January 2026. At a birthday party for Daniel's son Bertie, the young boy discovered a pregnancy test in Megan's handbag. The moment caused visible horror for Daniel and intense embarrassment for Megan, who quickly claimed the test was for a student.
Tracy Barlow's Instincts Kick In
Unbeknownst to Megan, her behaviour did not go unnoticed. From her spot at the bar, Daniel's sister, Tracy Barlow, grew increasingly suspicious. Noting that Megan wasn't drinking, Tracy voiced her doubts to Alya Nazir, stating, "Mark my words though, there's summit about her. I don't know what it is. But there is."
Fans instantly took to social media to celebrate Tracy's intuition. One viewer wrote, "Absolutely love that Tracy thinks something is not right about Megan. Nothing gets past her!" Another added, "Tracy noticing there’s something off with Megan! Our Trace always knows!" This reaction highlights the character's reputation, established since her on-screen birth in 1977 and Kate Ford's portrayal since 2002, for being sharp and perceptive.
Megan's Web of Lies Tightens
Megan's troubles are mounting beyond Tracy's watchful eye. She was recently seen in a frantic phone call, desperately telling a mystery caller, "I thought I told you not to call me again... Just leave me alone, okay?" This suggests a past or another complication threatening to expose her.
Actress Beth Nixon, who is new to the show, has spoken openly about the challenging role. She described Megan as a "calculated" and "charismatic" character who hides deep insecurity. Beth Nixon signed a new contract, indicating the dramatic storyline is far from over. She also emphasised the importance of the plot, stating its goal is to raise awareness and help viewers recognise predatory behaviour.
With Tracy Barlow on the case and Megan's lies becoming harder to maintain, a major confrontation on the famous Manchester street seems inevitable. Coronation Street continues to air on ITV1 and ITV X, Monday to Friday at 8:30pm.
