Coronation Street fans are speculating about what will happen when Owen Armstrong returns to Weatherfield after an 11-year absence, with many predicting he will confront Gary Windass and other residents.
Owen, played by Ian Puleston-Davies, is set to reappear in January, determined to help his daughter Izzy and grandson Jake. He is less than impressed with the actions of Izzy's former partner, Gary Windass, who has started an eight-month prison sentence for helping Sarah Platt cover up Theo Silverton's murder.
Owen's Return and His Anger at Gary
Owen was last seen in the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, in April 2015 when he announced he was leaving after his relationship with Anna Windass broke down and his business collapsed, partly due to Pat Phelan. He went to Portugal before settling in Scotland.
Upon his return, Owen makes it clear he blames Gary for his family's misfortunes and announces he is moving back to live with Izzy and Jake. His surprise appearance raises questions about Gary's future and the fate of his business.
Fans React to the News
Ian Puleston-Davies said of his return: "I can't wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago! It's brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen's back and he's still angry!"
Fans responded enthusiastically on social media. @harryholden999 said: "This is something we never knew we needed he was a real underrated character and he's a incredible actor." @hazeljeanscott commented: "Yes yes yes!!! Great actor and I'm delighted he'll be back!"
Viewer Predictions for Owen's Storyline
Some viewers believe they have figured out what lies ahead for Owen. @johnneladderley shared: "Yes please bring the OG's back. I hope he puts Tyrone's Dad in his place," while @liz.ryan.102 echoed: "So thrilled owen is back. He will look after the family. Just get rid of Ross."
@sam_Fletcher78 suggested: "I hope when Owen comes back he sorts out Ross! #corrie." @daviebroon51 replied: "He absolutely will." But @Fake_TV_Chef added: "I always liked Owen's straightforward attitude. I wonder if he teams up with Ross (don't they kind of look alike?) to treat Gary like s**t in prison or with Idris for him building empire. #Corrie."
