Corrie fans fear Marco Rhodes death after prison torment

Coronation Street fans are predicting a tragic end for Marco Rhodes (Will Teasdale) as prison guard Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) continues to make his life miserable in the ITV soap.

Marco first appeared on the cobbles in September and quickly won the heart of Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) after a difficult period for her that included the loss of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). The romance has faced challenges, and Marco is now in custody after acting as a getaway driver while wearing an electronic tag. He was refused bail because of prior convictions and remanded in prison.

Summer fights for Marco's release

A heartbroken Summer has vowed to stand by Marco and is desperate to secure his release. She has asked neighbours and solicitors Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) for help.

Behind bars, Marco shares a cell with Gary Windass (Mikey North). But Ross Wilkes has targeted Marco, intimidating and harassing him, and recently destroyed a letter from Summer meant for Marco, leaving him distraught.

Fans predict suicide storyline

Viewers are now convinced another tragic development awaits Marco. One person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page asked: "Does anyone else get the feeling that poor Marco is going to commit suicide?" Another replied: "I did think that." A third simply said: "100%" while another wrote: "Yes, I definitely feel that Ross will push him over the edge."

One fan referenced a past storyline, saying: "Not another Aidan please," referring to Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), who took his own life in 2018.

Secret son theory emerges

A separate fan theory suggests Marco could be connected to an existing resident, with viewers believing he may be the secret son of Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger). Glenda arrived in 2022 as the daughter of the late Archie (Roy Hudd) and sister to George (Tony Maudsley). She works as a barmaid at The Rovers Return alongside Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and landlords Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker).

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX. When life is difficult, Samaritans are available day or night, 365 days a year, free on 116 123 or at samaritans.org.
