Coronation Street is set for dramatic storylines in 2022, including a car accident cover-up, a pregnancy scare, and a health crisis. Emma and Faye are involved in a hit-and-run after Faye, a learner driver, knocks over an elderly man named Ted on New Year's Eve. Despite initially checking on him, they decide to keep the accident a secret, fearing the consequences of Emma being under the influence and Faye driving illegally.
Meanwhile, Abi faces a potential pregnancy following a fling with Imran Habeeb. She confides in Imran that if the test is positive, she must tell her husband Kevin the truth. Elsewhere, Tim receives a shocking health diagnosis after a check-up, learning he needs a triple heart bypass. The consultant warns that without surgery, his next heart attack could be fatal.
Zeedan is surprised by the return of his estranged wife, Marrium, and the pair confess they are still in love, leaving his sister Alya concerned. Adam faces trouble from former flame Lydia, who causes friction with his wife Sarah. Despite Adam's efforts to reassure Sarah, Lydia's behaviour leads to her losing her job, though Adam later helps her find another role. However, Adam's car and office are vandalised, raising questions about who is targeting him.
ITV has teased that the new year will bring 'affairs of the heart, faces from the past, secrets and family dramas' to the cobbles. Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
