Coronation Street fans were left confused by a 'weird' detail as Sarah Platt's trial came to an end, with the character facing life behind bars for the murder of Theo Silverton. Viewers of the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, took to social media to question why Sarah's brother Nick was absent throughout the court proceedings.
Sarah's Trial Verdict
Sarah was revealed as Theo's killer in flashback scenes aired in June, weeks after his body was found by Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor. Sarah kept quiet during the murder investigation, which saw several people suspected, including Theo's husband Todd Grimshaw, before Summer Spellman spent time behind bars for a crime she didn't commit.
Eventually, Sarah confessed the truth to her best friend Todd, while her partner DC Kit Green found out when she admitted to killing Theo as he was trying to propose. Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested and later charged, admitting to the murder and telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain it was in self-defence.
Fans Question Nick's Absence
During the trial in last week's episodes, Lisa, Theo's ex-wife Danielle Silverton, Todd, Gary Windass, and Kit all took the stand. Kit appeared to be the final nail in Sarah's coffin as he criticised her character, but ended by saying he didn't think she was capable of murder and that she was terrified for her own life.
On Monday (October 19), the jury found Sarah not guilty after a quick deliberation, much to her family's relief. However, fans were confused by Nick's absence throughout the trial, with several taking to social media to comment.
