Sarah Platt Exposed as Theo's Killer in Explosive Dinner Party
The identity of Theo Silverton's murderer was finally uncovered in Monday's Coronation Street episode, now accessible on ITVX. Six suspects had been pinpointed for the crime: Todd Grimshaw (Theo's estranged husband), George Shuttleworth, Gary Windass, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd (George's girlfriend), and Danielle Silverton (Theo's former wife).
The truth was revealed during a chaotic dinner party, which featured a mix of flashbacks and flashforwards. Kit Green had initially planned a romantic dinner to propose to his girlfriend Sarah Platt, but the evening took an unexpected turn with the arrival of Todd, Summer, Gary, and Maria Connor.
Flashback Reveals Sarah's Fatal Blow
Tensions ran high at the dinner party, with Maria and Kit harbouring suspicions about Sarah and Gary's recent behaviour, speculating that they might be having an affair. Meanwhile, Summer made Kit feel guilty for suspecting her of Theo's murder and briefly putting her behind bars.
As the main course was served, Maria dropped a bombshell, announcing that Gary and Sarah had been carrying on an affair for weeks. The room was left reeling in shock as secrets and lies were exposed through a series of explosive flashbacks. A flashback revealed that Sarah was in fact responsible for Theo's death after she hit him on the head and knocked him off the scaffolding following a series of cruel taunts, where he had her cornered. After realising Theo was dead, Sarah rang Gary and he helped her clear up the crime.
Gary's Guilt Threatens to Unravel Everything
However, Monday's episode ended with Gary stating he could no longer keep her secret, fearing it might cost him his marriage to Maria and access to his family. As Gary headed home, Sarah's anxiety escalated. Spoilers for this week see what happens next as Maria gives Gary the cold shoulder following the explosive dinner party. Meanwhile, when Sarah finds a ring box in Kit's bag, her eyes widen but she's brought back to reality when Kit suddenly appears. Will he change his mind following the dinner party from hell?
Meanwhile, Todd calls to see Sarah and tells her he suspects there's more to the situation with her and Gary than meets the eye. Later in the week, Gary goads Kit, pointing out that he has no actual evidence against him, and also tells Todd that there is no affair. Gary points out to Todd that Sarah both likes and trusts him, which is leaving Kit jealous and wanting to arrest him for Theo's murder.
Todd's Suspicions and Sarah's Desperation
The chat gives Todd food for thought, as he confronts Sarah, wondering if Gary knows more than he's letting on about Theo's murder. As the week ends, Todd turns to George for support and breaks down in tears, admitting he's never felt so lonely as he suggests he moves back in.
Meanwhile, Sarah drowns her sorrows in the Rovers, where her family are concerned to see her so drunk. However, Jodie Ramsey puts Sarah's troubles down to the fact she was attacked, but when she lets slip that David the dog was barking at the time, Sarah's left suspicious. Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
