Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) did not actually kill Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), as they believe someone else finished him off after her attack. The latest whodunnit storyline on the ITV soap has taken a twist, with fans speculating that the real culprit remains at large.
Back in April, abuser Theo was murdered following the exposure of his terrifying campaign against Todd (Gareth Pierce), triggering yet another whodunnit storyline. The roster of potential culprits featured Todd, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), Gary Windass (Mikey North), and Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson).
Initial Suspects and Charges
Initially, officers believed Summer was the perpetrator and even formally charged her with the offence after uncovering substantial evidence pointing in her direction. However, this week, it emerged that Sarah had slain Theo following her assault on him with a metal pole atop the scaffolding.
A flashback revealed what happened between Theo and Sarah. Sarah grabbed the pole and struck him across the head, causing him to plummet over the scaffolding's edge to the ground beneath, according to the Liverpool Echo.
A frantic Sarah contacted Gary after discovering Theo was deceased. He assisted her in concealing the crime, and this remains the secret they have been harbouring for weeks.
Fan Theories Emerge
However, with further plot developments anticipated, viewers suspect it was not actually Sarah who murdered Theo, as they are convinced someone else delivered the fatal blow. "Question - are we sure it's Sarah? Was Theo actually Dead? Did someone finish him off? The residents of Weatherfield and their ability to verify death is questionable...," pondered one person on X.
Another viewer then weighed in, suggesting Theo's ex-wife, Danielle, as a potential suspect after Gary used Theo's phone to message her, posing as him and arranging a meeting, in an attempt to frame her for the crime. They speculated: "The only thing I thought was when Gary texted Danielle from Theo's phone that maybe she finished him off, but remembered she was cleared..." A third agreed: "Yes to Danielle."
Echoing these sentiments, another fan simply stated: "Definitely." A fifth concurred: "Same here, I'm not convinced it was Sarah." Another viewer added: "I've said for a while Sarah and Gary think they've killed him, but someone else has finished him off.."
