Coronation Street: Idris targets Carla as factory faces ruin
Coronation Street: Idris targets Carla in factory plot

Idris Nazir is set to target Carla Connor-Swain in upcoming Coronation Street episodes, moving to destroy Underworld after she refuses to sell her business. The sinister businessman, played by Junade Khan, has already cheated, backstabbed and bullied several residents, and now turns his attention to the factory.

Idris's ruthless tactics

Idris has shown a ruthless streak, acting as a slumlord who lets tenants live in dangerous conditions and using others to do his dirty work. He turned Brody Michaelis into his minion, making him an accessory to kidnap and threatening the owner of his dodgy property. He also arranged a poker game between Ollie Driscoll and a dangerous gangster for profit.

His recent victims include his own cousin, Alya Nazir, whom he manipulated into handing him majority share control of Speed Daal by revealing he is her uncle. He then damaged the Bistro's reputation with fake reviews to buy the business from Nick Tilsley and Toyah Battersby at a low price, all with Leanne Battersby at his side.

Carla refuses Idris's offer

Carla snubbed Idris's offer to help with the business, despite Underworld not being at its best. But Idris does not give up, and upcoming episodes show that if Carla won't sell, he'll destroy it.

Idris hears Carla talking to Lisa about an important meeting at the hotel. Carla and Michael Bailey are pleased with how the meeting is going, but as the client heads to the loo, Idris stops him. Later, Idris listens in as Carla confides in Lisa at the cafe that she will have to cancel the Christmas bonus and needs to get the current order out on time to save the factory.

Brody's sabotage

Carla breaks the news to the devastated staff that she is struggling to keep the factory afloat. Idris meets Brody at the rear of the factory and, handing him a lighter, tells him he has a job for him.

Brody lets himself into No.4 and steals Sally's set of factory keys. Checking the coast is clear, he enters the deserted factory, unaware he is being watched by Leanne. Carla and Lisa are in the Rovers when they are told the factory alarm is going off.

The next day, Carla tells the shocked workers that she has no option but to shut the factory and can only pay them one month's wages. The sabotage leaves Underworld's future uncertain as Idris appears to have dethroned Carla as its ruler.
