Coronation Street fans predict Cilla Battersby return over Ross

Coronation Street fans are predicting the return of Cilla Battersby (Wendi Peters) to take down Ross Wilkes, following his recent dramatic actions on the cobbles. Ross, played by Ian Burfield, first appeared earlier this year as Tyrone Dobbs' (Alan Halsall) toxic real father, having paid Cassie (Claire Sweeney) for sex when she was just 15, leading to Tyrone's birth.

Ross's Recent Drama

Since moving to the street, Ross has caused significant turmoil, isolating Cassie from her loved ones. With nowhere to go, she left to work on a cruise ship, but after Ross took her to the train station, he was seen speeding away with her trapped in the car, leaving her fate unknown.

Ross has also turned his attention to grandson Dorin, and in Tuesday's episode (October 20), he disapproved of granddaughter Ruby (Billie Naylor) taking up boxing, persuading Tyrone to make her stop. Meanwhile, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) has grown suspicious of Ross.

Fans Call for Cilla's Comeback

Spoilers reveal Fiz will row with Ross after he confiscates Tyrone's phone, accusing him of sabotaging family film night. Fans now believe a former resident could return to confront him. On a Coronation Street Facebook Fan Page, viewers have predicted Cilla Battersby's comeback, with one saying: "Bring Back Cilla. Corie (sic) was at its best with a bit humour!"

Another added: "She might be back to sort that Ross out," while a third chimed in: "Good idea, he's vile and Cilla wouldn't stand for him for sure."

Cilla's History on the Cobbles

Cilla, mother of Fiz and Chesney (Sam Aston), first appeared in 2003 as Les Battersby's (Bruce Jones) love interest and became a hit with viewers. She was involved in memorable moments, including the iconic scene where she and Les fell through their ceiling after dog Schmeichel invaded their bath.

In 2007, Cilla left the cobbles, but Wendi made a cameo in the spin-off Coronation Street: Out Of Africa a year later, and the character returned briefly in 2014. Since then, Cilla has been absent from Weatherfield. Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
