Coronation Street confirms Theo Silverton's killer in twist

Coronation Street has finally confirmed who killed Theo Silverton in a major twist to the 'whodunnit' that has been running since his death earlier this year. Warning: huge spoilers ahead.

As those who follow the ITV soap know, Theo's lifeless body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum, Lisa Swain's, wedding to Carla Connor. Confirmation of the abuser's death, which ended his 13-month reign of physical and mental abuse over his partner, Todd Grimshaw, came after forward scenes aired in February, transporting viewers to April, where Betsy was being interviewed by police after discovering the dead body of someone she knew.

At the time, it was also revealed that it would either be Theo, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh or Maggie Driscoll whose lifeless body she would stumble across. Eventually, a week after the wedding aired, it was revealed that Theo was the victim, which came after he tried to torment Todd one last time. His death has since triggered a murder investigation, with Corrie confirming Todd as a suspect, along with George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass and Danielle Silverton. Summer ended up being charged for Theo's murder before a guilty Tyrone Dobbs told the police about seeing her on the night of the murder.

Dinner party twist reveals the truth

But weeks on, during Monday's (June 22) episode of Corrie, a dramatic dinner party unfolded, and a series of flashbacks confirmed what exactly happened on that fateful night. As DC Kit Green and Sarah Platt's dinner party unfolded, a ruthless Maria Windass confronted her husband, Gary Windass, and Sarah over their suspected affair. However, it was soon revealed that all their recent hushed conversations and support of one another were for a reason, just not that they were hiding something much more damaging.

A spine-tingling flashback took viewers back to the night of Theo's murder, when Sarah received a suspicious text from Todd's phone. She headed to the flat he had shared with Theo, where she was confronted by the dastardly builder Theo on the scaffolding that had been erected outside. Theo prodded and poked Sarah's emotions, even bringing up the son she and Todd had lost 21 years earlier. As their confrontation became more sinister, with Theo threatening Sarah with violence, the Underworld factory manager defended herself by grabbing a metal pipe, which she hit on Theo's head, sending him crashing to the ground below. Upon realising what she had done, she phoned Gary to help her.

What happens next for Sarah?

With Gary now under pressure to come clean to save his marriage, will Sarah be able to get away with murder, several years after she was involved in the death of her son's father, Callum Logan? The episode is available to watch on ITVX or YouTube, or at 9pm on ITV.
