Coronation Street: Carla fights back after Idris sabotage

Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) has sabotaged Carla Connor-Swain's (Alison King) life at Underworld in Coronation Street, but his victory may not be guaranteed. Earlier this week, Idris instructed Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) to break into the factory. The sly businessman wants to buy Underworld from Carla and had devised a plan to leave her with no choice but to sell up.

Brody sneaked into the building—unaware that Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) was watching—and set off the sprinklers. When Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) arrived, they were devastated to find all the equipment and clothes completely drenched. Carla believed there was no way the factory could get back on track, making it seem as though Idris's plot had worked.

Leanne's Secret Deal

At Speed Daal, Leanne confronts Idris and Brody, revealing that she saw Brody breaking into the factory. When Idris admits that he paid Brody to set off the sprinkler system, he is surprised when Leanne agrees to keep quiet.

In the pub, Carla reveals to the workers that she has no choice but to shut the factory and can only pay them one month's worth of wages. Later, Carla tells Lisa that because she failed to have the factory sprinkler system serviced, she doesn't think the insurance company will pay out.

Allies Rally Around Carla

Carla has been backed into a corner as a result of Idris's meddling, but in the November 5 episode, she realises just how many people are on her side. At Speed Daal, Idris shows Leanne the factory floor plans and explains that once the money is through from the sale of the school land, Underworld will be theirs.

Meanwhile, Carla is touched when Sean Tully (Antony Cotton), Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) and Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) arrive at the pub and tell her that they'll do anything to help her get the factory back up and running.

In other developments, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) invites her pals over for a girlie night, while Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) receives the results of her BRCA test.
