Footballing icon Chris Kamara and EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson have teamed up for Lidl's star-studded 2026 Christmas advert, released on 3 November. The ad opens with Williamson wearing a Lidl Christmas jumper and singing his own version of Slade's hit "Merry Christmas Everybody," with new lyrics celebrating turkey, prosecco, and other festive supermarket treats.
Festive Cameos and Street Cheer
Shaun spreads the joy by bringing his treats to friends, including Chris Kamara, Capital FM star Kemi Rogers, and Abi Clarke, one of the new hosts of Strictly: Lights Up. Kamara answers the door to a plate of pigs in blankets while wearing a black shirt covered in cartoons of Santa, fist-pumping and yelling "Get in!" at the sight of the food.
The group then takes to the streets with Shaun to bring festive cheer to their neighbours. As the song winds down, Kamara tells the others that "Lidl is unbelievable!"
Stars and Marketers React
Television personality and actor Shaun said: "Christmas is all about bringing people together, having fun and spreading a little festive cheer, so I jumped at the chance to help Lidl kick off the festive season in style! Putting a fresh spin on such an iconic Christmas classic was brilliant fun, and I hope it gets everyone smiling, singing along and feeling that little bit of Christmas magic!"
Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, added: "There's no better way to kick off the festive season than with a little music, a lot of fun and a Lidl twist on a Christmas classic!"
Celebrity-Filled Christmas Ads
This year's Christmas adverts have featured various celebrities, including Debenhams' ad with Emily Atack and Mathew Horne as childhood friends with crushes on each other. Tesco's advert features Roisin Conaty and Anna Maxwell-Martin as former friends who reconnect, while Argos cast Richard Ayoade as a Scrooge-esque character. The Lidl ad marks the start of the supermarket's Christmas celebrations, with more surprises and festive favourites to come.
