Celebrity Traitors fans believe they have spotted a familiar face inside the scarecrow that handed a dagger to host Claudia Winkleman in the latest episode of the BBC show.
The episode, which aired on October 23, saw Miranda Hart eliminated by the Traitors. Fellow Faithful Sharon Rooney attracted suspicion after co-stars accused her of behaving oddly, suspecting she had been recruited. During the challenge, contestants tore open scarecrows to retrieve money bags, which they then hung on scarecrows and detonated, leaving three scarecrows standing with the names of three players who would receive a mysterious power.
Fans Spot Familiar Figure
The Faithfuls selected James Acaster, Maya Jama and King Kenny as the most trustworthy recipients of the new ability, later revealed as a double vote at the Round Table. Sharon was dissatisfied with the choices, leading to numerous votes against her and fellow Faithful Joanne McNally. The vote deadlocked, requiring a second round, with the outcome to be revealed in the next episode on October 29.
At the mission's end, one scarecrow came to life and approached Claudia Winkleman carrying a box with the dagger. Claudia thanked it before it departed, with no further mention. Some viewers suspect it was The Traitors: Uncloaked presenter Ed Gamble under the costume.
Previous Cameo Role
This would not be Ed Gamble's first covert role in the main show. During last year's Celebrity Traitors series, he appeared as a masked druid in a challenge, revealing this only on the companion programme he presents.
One viewer wrote: "So, we all agree that this season's secret Ed Gamble cameo was him dressed up as the walking scarecrow who delivered the dagger, right?" Another agreed, saying: "I thought that was an odd scene and the scarecrow was milking it a bit. Think you could be right." A third added: "I said that too! Had his gait. But I do think it would have been a big risk with James Acaster there."
Doubts Remain
Some viewers are unconvinced, noting no secret cameo has been hinted at this year. One doubter said: "That's what I said when I saw it but I'd have expected him to mention it on Uncloaked." Another suggested: "I'm not sure if it was Ed but there was certainly someone interesting in that outfit."
Celebrity Traitors airs Thursdays and Fridays from 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
