Celebrity Traitors 'doomed' from start, BBC viewers claim
Celebrity Traitors 'doomed' from start, fans say

As Celebrity Traitors returns to BBC One tonight, some viewers believe the series was "doomed" from the very beginning, pointing to one casting decision made at the start.

The show sees Claudia Winkleman's chosen traitors - Maya Jama, King Kenny and James Acaster - appear stronger than ever after players deemed the trio the "most trustworthy" in last week's mission. Winkleman awarded Kenny the double vote at the roundtable, which could prove decisive after the first set of votes ended in a tie. Tonight, viewers will learn whether Joanne McNally or Sharon Rooney is banished from the castle.

Fans Question Maya Jama's Casting

In a Reddit post, one user described the series as "great TV", while another argued that selecting Maya as a traitor was a misstep, writing: "This series was doomed when they cast Maya Jama as a traitor." Claiming to be a "huge Traitors fan", they admitted little interest in this year's outcome.

Another viewer suggested Maya has made "terrible traitor choices", with Kenny being the sole exception. They added: "I get that she's a traitor and thus obviously wants to sabotage and weaken the faithfuls, and she should! But at the same time, from a viewership perspective, if there's not a single competent faithful and it seems too easy for the traitors, it's not an interesting watch."

Defenders Praise the Series

However, in the original post, one viewer questioned why the series is "getting so much stick", adding: "It's great TV. People getting upset because it's not turning out the way they wanted it... it's reality TV. It could have 100s of different outcomes. That's life."

Another concurred: "Yeah I've loved it so far, it's been really fun." A third remarked: "The show is fine. The viewers are the problem," while a fourth said: "I've enjoyed it. It's not as funny as last year's but I'm into it and I care about the result. I really want a 3-traitor win!"

Kenny was given the double vote during the tense roundtable. The social media personality, along with Maya and James A, were deemed the most trustworthy during the challenge, meaning Kenny will decide whether Sharon or Joanne is banished. The outcome airs tonight (October 29) at 8pm on BBC.
