Celebrity Traitors backlash as fans rage 'show ruined' over winning charities decision
Celebrity Traitors backlash over winning charities decision

Celebrity Traitors has concluded with a Faithful victory, as Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian "Bash" Croft split the final £83,000 prize pot evenly for their chosen charities – but the donation decisions have triggered a wave of angry reactions from viewers.

Following Thursday's (October 29) dramatic instalment, the surviving Faithfuls were Leigh Anne, Romesh Ranganathan, Sebastian "Bash" Croft and James Blunt, while the Traitors among them were Maya Jama and King Kenny. After two dramatic roundtables, series two ended with a Faithful win.

Winners' Charity Choices Spark Fury

Comedian Romesh announced he would give his share to the Refugee Council, while Bash pledged his £41,500 to humanitarian organisation Choose Love, which aids queer refugees and displaced individuals. Social media erupted shortly afterwards, with numerous viewers left furious.

One angry viewer wrote: "Those charity choices just ruined that whole game ... #celebritytraitors James Blunt 100% would have donated to army veterans - the real people in need. Disappointing."

Another incensed viewer commented: "They give the charity money to displaced refugees... what about the UK homeless people/homeless UK veterans. Good grief. The London privileged Left have spoken."

"Oh f*** the f*** off. Refugee charities! How dare they? Charity is meant to begin at home. The producers should have vetoed those choices from the get-go. That is traitorous to this country. Never should that be allowed to happen," declared a third viewer.

Supporters Defend the Donations

TalkTV presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer also weighed in, stating: "The end of #CelebrityTraitors was the most BBC thing EVER. Because of COURSE the two winners are donating their winnings - our licence fee money - to a charity for refugees and a charity for 'queer' refugees."

However, other viewers rallied behind the celebrities' decisions, with one asking: "Why are some people so offended about the money going to charities. The woke charity thing is ridiculous. Charity is charity; surely that can only be a good thing."

Another supporter applauded the victors, commenting: "So glad Bash and Romesh won. They had the same charity cause, to help refugees who have faced oppression. So it's right those two are the winners."

Final Banishment and Prize Fund Details

In the climactic final banishment, James sealed his own fate by choosing not to conclude the game, which prompted Romesh to vote against him, while Bash ultimately turned on him following Kenny's elimination.

The jackpot started at zero and grew throughout the series, with every successfully accomplished mission adding thousands of pounds into the ultimate prize fund. Throughout the debut celebrity series in 2025, the famous faces amassed a prize fund totalling £87,500, with Traitor champion Alan Carr giving his complete winnings to children's cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK.

In contrast to the civilian edition of the programme, none of the celebrity participants pocket the cash themselves.
