The mystery of what happened to Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) in Coronation Street could soon be solved – and the news may be grim for Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).
Earlier this year, Tyrone's father Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) arrived in Weatherfield. As the newcomer tried to ingratiate himself with the family, Tyrone's mum Cassie struggled deeply to have him around. Her attempts to prove Ross was dodgy failed, leading her to burn bridges with her family and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
Cassie's Disappearance
Isolated, Cassie announced she would leave Weatherfield for a new job on a cruise ship. Ross offered to take her to the train station. Parked at the side of a road, Cassie tried to get the upper hand during another argument with Ross, but he terrified her and locked the car doors. That was the last viewers saw of Cassie – it is unknown if she boarded the cruise ship or if Ross harmed her.
Tyrone has been so focused on getting to know his dad that he hasn't considered something terrible may have happened to his mum. As far as Tyrone is concerned, his life is better now that Cassie isn't in it.
A Gruesome Discovery?
The truth about Cassie's vanishing may be uncovered by another Weatherfield resident. Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) is investigating an abandoned plot of land that the council wants to sell to a developer. Daniel believes the space should benefit local school children, while businessman Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) wants to build property there.
If Idris wins the battle and building work begins, his team could make a horrifying discovery underground. The question is whether Ross has buried Cassie on this land to ensure his dark secret never comes to light.
Tyrone's Realisation
Whether the truth will be revealed remains to be seen, but it won't be long until Tyrone sees who his dad really is. Alan Halsall said: 'Right now, Ross is trying to control Tyrone, but Tyrone sees it as very different to what Kirsty did because it's a different person doing it in a different way, plus Ross is a big, intimidating chap. In the end, Tyrone will realise, "Hang on a minute, I'm not thinking for myself here, why is that?"'
He added: 'It might take Tyrone longer than other people, but he'll get there with the help of Fiz, family, and others.'
