Netflix has confirmed a highly anticipated Bridgerton spin-off centred on Lady Violet Bridgerton, played by Ruth Gemmell, set during the early years of the Bridgerton matriarch's life and her courtship with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. The limited series will be led by Shonda Rhimes, following the success of her previous spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Netflix confirmed: "The series will chronicle the early life of a young Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton." The announcement was made via a letter from Lady Whistledown shared on the official Bridgerton account on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier Hints and Casting Details
Back in January, Bridgerton's executive producer and director, Tom Verica, confirmed a spin-off would be coming soon, but at the time, he did not confirm what the spin-off would be about. In an interview, Verica told Deadline: "With Queen Charlotte, we thoroughly enjoyed that experience. It was a smaller look at a particular love story that’s spanned over those episodes and I think we caught something that people really responded to. So, we are in talks of some other projects, hopefully, something, some news will be coming out at some point, hopefully."
When pressed about further details, he teased: "I will say this, there have been characters that you’ve met before, ones that you are invested in."
At this moment in time, it has not been confirmed who will play the younger versions of the characters. Actress Gemmell previously opened up about her character and how she is often torn between profound grief and the determination to help her children, sharing with Flanelle magazine: "I think because she had such a great love, and that he was taken from her and the children so cruelly, she desperately wants her children to know the same. It is one of the things that binds her still to Edmund, to make sure their children thrive. As far as playing those emotions: I think grief is something universal – we have all lost something, and I think it’s important to portray that. We are all a myriad of emotions, we all have baggage – they don’t make us less of a person they make us who we are, warts and all."
The Lady Violet Bridgerton spin-off will air on Netflix.
