Bridgerton Fans Binge-Watch This 'Astonishing' Period Drama

For those who adored Bridgerton's opulent period setting, lavish wardrobes and steamy moments, the historical drama series 'Harlots' is bound to hit the mark. The British costume drama, which debuted in 2017, has mesmerised audiences with its sumptuous 1760s London backdrop.

Taking cues from historian Hallie Rubenhold's 'The Covent Garden Ladies', the programme transports viewers to 18th-century Georgian England and inside a bawdy house on London's streets. The narrative follows a brothel proprietor as the women around her recognise their limited choices, essentially confined to matrimony or prostitution.

Samantha Morton takes the lead as Margaret Wells, the shrewd businesswoman and brothel keeper who previously worked in the trade herself. The supporting ensemble is equally remarkable, featuring BAFTA-winning actress Lesley Manville and Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler, alongside Jessica Findlay and Dorothy Atkinson.
