In a characteristically stylish update posted on December 21, the secret was spilled in the form of a Lady Whistledown missive. The post confirmed that the infant, who made his debut in the Season 3 finale, is to be known as Lord Elliot Featherington.
The faux newsletter read: "Since last season, Mr Colin Bridgerton and Mrs Penelope Bridgerton have welcomed their first child. A beautiful, joyous little boy and heir to the Featherington title. Do join me in celebrating the arrival of Lord Elliot Featherington. This author eagerly awaits you making his acquaintance."
A Glimpse of the Newest Noble
Adding to the excitement, actress Nicola Coughlan, who portrays Penelope, offered a first look at the young actor playing her on-screen son. In an Instagram post, she shared an image of the baby, complete with a shock of ginger hair perfectly matching Penelope's famous locks.
Her caption playfully introduced: "Introducing Elliot Bridgerton - the new Lord Featherington aka Baby Whistledown, he’s very excited to meet you all on January 29th." This confirms the infant's on-screen appearance is imminent.
