Baby names inspired by Netflix's hit series Bridgerton are soaring in popularity, according to new data from nursery retailer Kiddies Kingdom. The company analysed two years of Office for National Statistics data to reveal the UK's most popular Bridgerton-inspired baby names, comparing figures from before the show began in 2020 with those from 2021.
The data shows that the name Eloise, belonging to the fifth Bridgerton child, has grown in popularity by 27 percent, with the number of babies named Eloise rising from 386 to 492. The name Daphne, the eldest Bridgerton daughter and heroine of season one, also saw a significant increase, though exact figures were not provided. Colin, the third Bridgerton child and love interest of Penelope Featherington, was also among the top names on the rise.
The findings come as Bridgerton prepares to return for its third season, with Part 1 airing on May 16 and Part 2 on June 13. The series has captured the hearts of viewers worldwide, and its influence is now being seen in baby name choices across the UK.
Kirsty Carroll, parenting expert at Kiddies Kingdom, advised parents-to-be to consider whether they prefer common or unique names, and to take inspiration from popular culture, family traditions, or meaningful places. She said: "Favourite TV characters, names of meaningful places, or even names influenced by beloved family members are great options."
