Bradley Walsh's Million Pound Shot, a one-off quiz special on Channel 4, will see three contestants risk their own money for a chance to win up to £1million. The show, which airs Sunday, November 1 at 9pm, marks a first for British television with its high-stakes format.
Participants will arrive with their own bank cards and stake money based on their confidence in answering general knowledge questions. Each question offers the opportunity to earn Bet Balls carrying a cash value, which contestants can either withdraw immediately or gamble by launching them into the Million Pound Shot Machine in pursuit of the £1million jackpot.
A Format Unlike Any Other
Bradley Walsh described the show as "unlike anything we've seen on British TV before," adding, "when I heard about this format I thought it was one of the most original and surprising quiz shows I'd ever encountered." He noted that beyond playing with their own money, "there are more twists and turns along the way," and that contestants "are going to have to be willing to take big risks, and back themselves right to the very end. This is not a game for the faint-hearted!"
The presenter emphasised the psychological challenge: "This game is all about confidence and bravado. Putting your money where your mouth is will not be simple when it's your own cold hard cash. So the contestants are going to have to be cool, calm and willing to take a risk. The game is always in their control and I'm hoping for confident, bright players with a good breadth of general knowledge and a sense of fun."
Channel 4's Teaser and Walsh's Background
Channel 4 has teased: "A brand new quiz where contestants can win a million. But there's one huge secret twist in a night of drama, tension and life changing outcomes. Would you take the shot?"
Walsh has been a firm favourite on ITV's The Chase since 2009, where hopefuls take on a quiz master chaser for a life-changing prize pot. He has also appeared on spin-off series Beat the Chasers and his own show Bradley Walsh and Son: Breaking Dad with his son Barney.
