Boyzone fans 'sobbing' as Mikey Graham returns to TV

Boyzone fans have been left "sobbing" after watching the band's new documentary 'One For The Road', which shows Mikey Graham reuniting with his former bandmates on screen for the first time since 2019.

The emotional documentary, released on November 1, follows Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy as they performed at the Emirates Stadium in London for the last time earlier this year. Cameras captured behind-the-scenes access to the reunion, which marked the group's final goodbye to the stage.

A Raw and Heartwarming Final Trip

Airing on Sky and NOW TV, the one-off special was previously described by Sky as "a raw and heartwarming final trip down memory lane" that explores "the lasting bonds of friendship, cementing a legacy, and finding peace and forgiveness."

Having said goodbye to the band in 2019, the members wanted to do it "on their own terms – and in a way they, and the fans, deserve."

Fans React to the Reunion

Despite only being released yesterday, fans have already taken to social media to share their emotional reactions. One person wrote: "Sobbed watching this", while another echoed: "im bawling!"

A third admitted: "Got so emotional watching it." A fourth penned: "Just watched #boyzone #onefortheroad and I love Mikey and Shane even more than I loved them before."

A fifth stated: "I'm glad you guys shared this. It's so powerful to see you all reunited again. I had a lump in my throat", as a sixth echoed: "Amazing watch for any BZ fan. And to see Mikey overcome his anxiety.... wow." Another replied: "Cried when Mikey got the cheer from the fans. You could see his heart healing."

Mikey Graham's Journey Back

Mikey initially left the band during their long break in 2000 to pursue a solo career, before reuniting with the group later on. However, in 2019, he permanently stepped away at the end of their 25th-anniversary Thank You & Goodnight Tour and severed contact with his former bandmates.

He retreated from the public eye to protect his mental health, living a quiet life in rural Ireland. He reunited with Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, and Shane Lynch for a brief performance back in June, though his participation was limited as he previously said a full comeback "filled him with a dread like I've never known in my life."

In the documentary, viewers saw Mikey meeting his bandmates for the first time since 2019, described as a "big step" for him. Mikey told cameras: "I mean, I never imagined in a million years that anything would ever happen again. But we haven't reached that place yet, you know? It's going to be awkward. We're too old to be faking it for the camera."

Keith Duffy can be heard saying: "I'm not going to be in any way bold or nasty... Thw hurt and the anger has to be gone now to make this work."

In a previous documentary series 'Boyzone: No Matter What', Mikey opened up about a clash before the final shows as well as a "toxic" environment. 'One For The Road' is available to stream on NOW TV.
