Big Brother star Jenkin Edwards has undergone emergency surgery after being rushed to hospital with severe abdominal pain. The 2013 contestant, who appeared on the ITV revival, revealed he was diagnosed with appendicitis.
Edwards described the ordeal on social media, saying: 'Tuesday night I was experiencing the most unbearable pain in my stomach, I was bent over in pain sobbing my eyes out. Wednesday, I was rushed through for emergency surgery as I had appendicitis.' He added that he initially thought he was being dramatic and asked to go home just 20 minutes before receiving his results.
The TV personality praised hospital staff for their care, noting he was alone during his stay but every team member took time to explain procedures. He urged fans not to ignore warning signs, saying: 'Please please please if you experience any sort of aches or pains go and get them checked I was going to leave this and god knows what would have happened if I did.'
Edwards, who has been open about being a plus-sized neurodivergent gay man, recently reflected on his Big Brother experience during the show's 25th anniversary. He described it as a way to show representation and 'putting a middle finger up to all the bullies I’ve encountered through my life.'
