Beat The Chasers Halted After Mark Labbett On-Air Meltdown Over Answer

ITV's Beat The Chasers was temporarily stopped after a heated argument erupted between the show's chasers, with Mark 'The Beast' Labbett challenging a contestant's answer. Comedian Dom Joly appeared on the celebrity edition and won £50,000 for charity, but the victory was not without controversy.

Joly told the Daily Star that Labbett became furious and demanded the show be paused to review the decision. 'They started arguing and they actually had to stop the show. And The Beast challenged something and wanted to rethink and in the end, he lost the judgment and then they stopped the clock again,' Joly said. He added that he enjoyed seeing the chasers' anger, questioning whether they care about the money since it's not their own.

The incident follows previous complaints from viewers that questions on celebrity editions are too easy. Comedian Nish Kumar previously won £25,000, prompting criticism on social media. One viewer wrote: 'When the contestant gets questions like "What's the main ingredient of Heinz Ketchup?" of course they're gonna win lol.' Another said: 'Tomato soup coal f****** easy questions.'

Despite the backlash, some fans defended the show, noting that the winnings go to charity. A viewer commented: 'Yes the questions were easy but fair play too him & remember it's for charity.' ITV has not commented on the incident.
