BBC's Wild Cherry: Release Date, Cast, and Filming Locations Revealed

BBC has announced that its new coming-of-age series Wild Cherry will premiere on Saturday, November 15 at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The six-episode drama, written by Nicôle Lecky, explores the bonds between mothers and daughters in a wealthy Surrey community.

The cast includes Eve Best (House of the Dragon), Carmen Ejogo (The Penguin), Imogen Faires, and Amelia Mayz. Sophie Winkleman, James Murray, and Nathaniel Martello-White also feature. Lecky herself appears as Gigi.

The story follows super-mum Juliet (Best) and business mogul Lorna (Ejogo) as their teenage daughters, Grace (Faires) and Allegra (Mayz), are accused of a scandal at their exclusive private school. Secrets and lies ripple through the town, testing mother-daughter relationships.

Lecky revealed her inspiration came from driving through gated communities in Surrey. 'I wanted to tell a story about towns like this,' she said. 'I felt we hadn't seen this side of England before.'

Filming took place in and around Surrey, with the Lonsdale House set constructed from four different locations. Actress Amelia Mayz described the houses as 'ginormous,' adding that the grandeur helped actors embody their wealthy characters.

The first two episodes will air back-to-back from 9pm on November 15. The series is produced by Firebird Pictures for BBC.
