BBC viewers spot 'odd' detail with Joanne McNally on Traitors

Celebrity Traitors viewers spotted an "odd" detail involving comedian and writer Joanne McNally before Friday night's explosive round table, prompting debate over whether it was a clue or a TV production quirk.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with viewers waiting to see whether Sharon Rooney or Joanne McNally will be banished from the game. After the group struggled to decide, both women made their final pleas as faithfuls, and the episode concluded with Kenny deciding who to use his double vote on after a split decision.

Viewers notice nail colour change

On Facebook, one person asked: "Anyone notice in tonight's episode, before the round table when Joanne was talking to Bash and Romesh her nails had changed to turquoise, but at the round table back to lime green. This may mean nothing at all, cannot get my head around it, but it is odd."

Another wondered: "It could be the lighting? Maybe," while a third added: "I think this is why she was so rubbish at the scarecrow task for fear of breaking her nails, maybe she had fixed them afterwards." A third joked: "Everyone's a sleuth."

TV industry theory emerges

Eagle-eyed viewers also discussed the detail on Reddit, with some suggesting it could be down to filming schedules or a quick dash for a mid-season manicure. However, someone who worked in the TV industry offered a solid theory.

They wrote: "It's called grading. All footage is graded in the edit suite to make lighting consistent. Sometimes if the lighting is off, some yellow will be taken out or blue added, and that can alter the colour of something as bright as Joanne's nails without it visibly altering anything else. I noticed it too but I used to work in TV so realised what had happened."

Round table tension builds

Friday night's episode spelled trouble for the faithfuls after the group voted Maya, James A and Kenny as the most trustworthy during the mission. Not knowing whether the trio were Traitors, Kenny was given the power of a double vote during the tense round table, which he first used on Sharon before it ended on a draw.

The Celebrity Traitors continues Thursday (October 29) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm.
