BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt was left visibly exasperated after an awkward on-air exchange between co-stars Naga Munchetty and weatherman Matt Taylor.
The clash occurred during the handover to Matt Taylor, when the weather screen showed a picture of a sunrise in East Wales. Naga questioned whether it was indeed a sunrise, sparking a debate that left Matt struggling to defend his forecast.
Matt pointed to shallow fog in the image as evidence, but Naga countered that fog can also occur at sunset. Matt eventually conceded it could be either but insisted it was a sunrise.
Charlie, who co-hosts the show with Naga, later expressed sympathy for Matt, saying: 'I feel a lot of sympathy for Matt in those circumstances, I do. I really do.' Naga responded: 'What, having to mediate between the many debates?'
Despite the on-air tension, Naga later took to social media to pay tribute to departing Newsnight journalist Stephen Smith, calling him a 'bloody decent person'.
