Baywatch reboot: launch date, cast and story revealed

The Baywatch reboot will premiere in the US on Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 9pm on Fox, with Stephen Amell leading the cast as a grown-up Hobie Buchannon.

The 12-episode series will also air on Sky and NOW in the UK the same month, though an exact date has not yet been confirmed. Production began in early 2026, eight years after initial rumours about a revival first emerged.

Story and central conflict

Baywatch 2027 centres on Hobie Buchannon, the son of original character Mitch Buchannon, following in his father's footsteps as the Baywatch Captain. His life is disrupted when his long-lost daughter Charlie arrives and demands a spot on the tower.

In the trailer, Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, says: 'I'm Charlie. From Texas. Biological daughter. Any of that ring a bell?' She adds: 'Don't worry, I'm not looking for money. Or a father. Just need a job.'

Hobie must balance his desire for a relationship with his daughter against his fears for her safety. He admits: 'I have been dreaming of having a relationship with my daughter, but I'm worried about her out there. It's too dangerous.'

Like the original series, the show will feature high-stakes rescues and emergencies, beginning with a plane crash, alongside romances, rivalries, and personal dramas.

Main cast

Amell, 45, is best known for the CW superhero series Arrow and the Arrowverse franchise. Belkin, 24, is recognised for films including Last Straw (2024), Singing in My Sleep (2025), Bad Day (2026), and Hunt Club (2022).

The ensemble cast includes Hassie Harrison as Nat, Noah Beck as Luke, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Olivia 'Livvy' Dunne as Grace, Brooks Nader as Selene, Luke Eisner as Koya, Nadia Gray as Lisa, Charlie McElveen as Ethan, Ashley Moore as Jasmine, Kylar Miranda as Diego, Mary McDonnell as Gayle, John Beckwith as Julian, and Blair Redford as Hunter.

Original stars returning

Pamela Anderson, 59, told Deadline: 'No one's reached out to me. I don't know much about it. I know that they were talking to my sons at some point about producing, but I don't think they had a meeting of the minds. I'm not sure what happened there, but I wish them well.'

David Chokachi, 58, returns as Cody Madison, a role he first played in 1995. Erika Eleniak, 57, reprises her role as Shauni McClain, now a Santa Monica city councilwoman. Michael Bergin, 57, guest stars as Jack 'J.D.' Darius, and Kelly Packard, 51, returns as April Giminski in another guest role.

Baywatch premieres on Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 9pm on Fox in the US, and will later air on Sky and NOW in the UK.
