Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Corrie Stars Join Robson Green

Kevin Whately, known for Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Vera, and Chris Gascoyne, who played Peter Barlow on Coronation Street, have joined Robson Green in the BBC drama The Northumbria Mysteries. The series, commissioned earlier this year, is filmed entirely in Northumberland and is expected to fill the void left by Vera, which ended in early 2025.

Filming Locations and Cast Additions

Filming has taken place in Seahouses, Amble, and Morpeth, where Robson Green's character Joe Rigby was seen cycling and filming scenes. The production company, Lonesome Pine, confirmed the casting of Whately, Gascoyne, and Liz White. White, who played Annie Cartwright in Life on Mars and Emma Keane in Ackley Bridge, will portray Oxford-educated DI Rose O'Connell, working alongside Joe to solve crimes.

Kevin Whately's Legacy

Whately, a familiar face to North East viewers, has appeared in shows like Geordie Racer, Peak Practice, Inspector Morse, and Lewis. He played Neville in Auf Wiedersehen Pet and is a stalwart of Sunday for Sammy. His addition to the cast brings significant regional star power.
