Ariana Grande's Stunt Double Makes Accidental Appearance in Focker-In-Law Trailer

The new trailer for the upcoming comedy film Focker-In-Law has generated buzz among fans, but not all of it for the right reasons. Eagle-eyed viewers have pointed out what appears to be a noticeable editing error in the teaser, which was released on Wednesday.

Spotting the Blunder

In the trailer, pop star Ariana Grande joins the beloved Meet the Parents franchise as Olivia, the soon-to-be fiancée of Henry, played by Skyler Gisondo. The film marks the fourth installment in the series, with returning stars Ben Stiller and Teri Polo reprising their roles as Greg and Pam Focker.

The scene in question occurs during a family bike ride, where Olivia challenges Greg to a race. As they speed down a trail, Greg clips Olivia's back tire, causing her to tumble to the ground. Fans quickly noticed that as she falls on her back, Olivia's face seems to be that of a stunt double rather than Grande herself.

One fan commented on YouTube, "The way you can see the stunt double in the bike fall scene—I can't." Another noted on X, "The obvious stunt double is cracking me up lowkey." The Independent has reached out to Universal Pictures, the film's studio, for comment on the apparent editing oversight.

Franchise Revival and Fan Reactions

Despite the editing blunder, the trailer has left many fans excited for the franchise's return. Focker-In-Law is set to release in theaters on November 25, more than 15 years after the third film, Little Fockers, debuted in 2010. The original film, Meet the Parents, premiered in 2001, followed by Meet the Fockers in 2004.

One fan expressed enthusiasm on X, saying, "A hilarious comeback for the Focker family, looks like another fun-filled comedy just in time for the Thanksgiving holidays." Another admitted, "Looks so much better than I was expecting. They have a great new hook to keep it going and the same energy and chemistry that started it all."

Behind the Scenes and Cast Additions

The film is written and directed by John Hamburg, who co-wrote the first three movies. Jay Roach, director of the initial two films, serves as a producer. Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal are also producers through Tribeca Productions, while Ben Stiller and John Lesher produce via Red Hour Films.

Grande, 32, was added to the cast last July, following her first Oscar nomination for her supporting role in Wicked. Other new cast members include Skyler Gisondo, Beanie Feldstein, and Eduardo Franco. After the trailer's debut at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, De Niro praised Grande, calling her "probably the single most talented screen partner I've been lucky to share the screen with." Stiller humorously replied, "In a way, she's kind of like the new Ben Stiller," to which De Niro retorted, "She got an Oscar nomination. How many of those do you have?"

The film continues the series' theme of family conflict between the uptight Byrnes and the relaxed Fockers, with Grande's character Olivia quickly winning over De Niro's Jack Byrnes, sparking jealousy in Greg Focker.
