The highly anticipated Amandaland Christmas Special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day at 9.15pm, with a simultaneous release on BBC iPlayer. The festive episode sees Amanda taking her family to Aunt Joan's countryside home, but plans go awry when Mal and Anne arrive unexpectedly.
According to the BBC's teaser, Anne is in despair at being separated from her family, while Felicity grows increasingly irritated by her sister's constant high spirits. Meanwhile, Mal discovers a hidden photo that appears to reveal a deep family secret.
Star Lucy Punch has described the episode as beginning and ending with a pavlova, with plenty of laughs in between. She praised guest star Jennifer Saunders, saying every scene with her was 'a hilarious delight'. Joanna Lumley, who plays Aunt Joan, highlighted a touching moment with her canine co-star, Cally, a rescue dog who stole the hearts of the cast and crew.
Jennifer Saunders, reprising her role as Anne, expressed her excitement about joining the special, noting that she loved Amandaland from its first series and found the show's humour irresistible. The episode promises a reunion of Absolutely Fabulous icons Saunders and Lumley.
