Amanda Owen marks milestone as Our Farm Next Door ends

The Owen family has marked a major milestone at Anty John's as the fourth series of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids came to an end on More4.

The finale, which aired on Monday November 2, showed Nancy and Clemmy riding on horseback into the wildflower meadow for their first ride since winter. The family also celebrated a significant achievement at the property, with the girls hosting their first-ever sleepover at the new family residence while furniture that Amanda Owen had collected over the years was moved in as the interior began to take shape.

Moving furniture to Anty John's

Speaking about the move, Amanda explained: "We're taking up the Aga, in numerous bits. Of course, it all takes a bit of getting to the house, as well. I think that's part of it. You know, trying to pick the right day to take things to the house, without them getting shaken to bits, or broken en route. And also, of course, it needs a bit of muscle power. I like the idea of taking something on that's already had a life, something that's got a history. Something that's got a story behind it, and with it."

Amanda had gathered numerous furnishings over the years, including a vintage clock and doorbells. As the family began relocating some of the furniture from storage to its new home, she remarked: "So today, it's quite monumental, really." Her former husband, Clive, noted: "There are some amazing things [that] she's found, with a plan to eventually finish Anty John's."

First night at the farmhouse

Amanda continued: "I do hope that 50, 60, 70 years down the line, or whatever. That there's somebody here who knows the backstory, and appreciates it."

Later, Amanda spent her first night at Anty John's alongside her youngest daughters and their closest friend, Sophie. "After the past 100 years or more, it just sounds so amazing to think we are the first people to stay there, and changing this barn's future," said Nancy.

The following morning, Amanda reflected on the milestone, stating: "The children absolutely loved it. That's not the first time that children will have all fallen to sleep in a great big, cosy heap at Anty John's, but just probably not for well over 120 years or so... I think it's going to make a good house, a good home."

Fan reaction and future series

Supporters took to social media as the series drew to a close. "What a joy to watch these girls preparing to sleep in Anty John's after all this time," one follower wrote on Instagram. Another added: "Happy days, how exciting."

A third said: "This programme is absolutely heartwarming - but it doesn't last long enough! More episodes please and would love to see more of ALL the kids." Someone else commented, "What a moment after all the hard work," and another fan similarly shared, "Aagh that's adorable."

Following the conclusion of series four, Our Farm Next Door has been commissioned for two additional series on More4. In series five and six, audiences will continue following the Owen family as their ambitions for Anty John's progress and the property transforms from a house into a home. The series is available to stream on Channel 4.
