Aldi Christmas 2026 Ad: Kevin the Carrot Searches for Missing Cauli-dog
Aldi Christmas 2026: Kevin the Carrot's Cauli-dog Mystery

Aldi's Christmas 2026 advert brings back Kevin the Carrot, but this year's festive story centres on a family crisis as the beloved Cauli-dog goes missing. Kevin and his daughter Chantenay are shown trudging through the snow, placing a LOST poster on Santa's letterbox in a desperate search for their pet.

The poster describes the Cauli-dog as "friendly, but nervous around cheese" and asks shoppers to call Kevin the Carrot on 03335775577 if the pet is found. The Mirror tested the number and confirmed callers are greeted by a voicemail message from a shivering Kevin, who explains he cannot get to the phone because he is out searching for his dog. He also directs callers to Aldi's Facebook page, where shoppers claim to have spotted the Cauli-dog. One social media follower joked: "I wouldn't worry too much. He'll probably turnip when he's hungry."

A Festive Search Through the Snow

Returning home, Kevin cuddles up to his children on a floral couch between a giant turkey and sprouts, watching a video of the Cauli-dog projected on the wall by candlelight. Back at Santa's letterbox, paw prints lead away from a suspiciously yellowed snow corner. The trail guides the father-and-daughter duo past a snowman scarecrow with a mop beard and fairy lights, and then to a branch in the snow, where they are startled by what appears to be a terrifying creature—only to discover it is a squirrel holding a frozen acorn.

The paw prints eventually lead them back home to a dining table full of Christmas trimmings, buttered new potatoes and lobster tails. There, the family pulls a gold Christmas cracker, which pops out a moustached Cauli-dog wearing a green jumper and red party hat. Confetti rains and peas roll across the table as Aldi declares: "All you want for Christmas."

A Light-Hearted Contrast to John Lewis

Aldi keeps the advert light-hearted and joyful, using the spread of food to reiterate that "more is more." The ad stands in contrast to John Lewis's luxury Christmas advert, which addresses the cost of living crisis with the tagline "Don't give up on giving." In that ad, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas plays grandmother Gloria, who searches for the perfect gift for her grandchildren with the help of a talking toy dog. Inspired by a pink tuk-tuk on Oxford Street, she transforms a room into a special cave with sparkling lights, disco balls and a record player. All items in Gloria's room were either recycled from elsewhere in her house or cost less than £100, showing that magical memories do not always come with a hefty price tag.

The John Lewis ad received a mixed reaction. One viewer wrote: "What a return to form. A beautiful Kristin Scott Thomas playing a glam granny. Warm, Christmassy, nostalgic. The 1st time JL has used a celeb (except Elton John playing himself in 2018)." Another commented: "Not sure what message John Lewis was trying to land with their Christmas advert. But all I see is 2 rude & entitled kids, their mother making excuses & tidying up after them & a gran spending a fortune trying to buy their affection while going on a trip down memory lane."
