The acclaimed period drama '1883', a prequel to the hit series Yellowstone, is now streaming on Netflix in the UK. Originally aired on Paramount+ in 2021, the ten-episode series has garnered an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, surpassing Yellowstone's score by 6%.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show follows the Dutton family's arduous journey from Tennessee across the American frontier after the Civil War, eventually settling in Montana to establish the iconic Yellowstone ranch. The cast includes Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Isabel May, and James Landry Hébert, with a cameo from double Oscar winner Tom Hanks as General George Meade.
Viewers have praised the series, with one calling it a "masterpiece of tv drama and storytelling" and another describing it as "outstanding in all respects." A third fan noted, "Even as a stand-alone, without any Yellowstone knowledge, it’s an incredible ride." The show's success led to a follow-up series, '1923', starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.
