Major Cast Shake-Up for Netflix's Wednesday as Season Three Production Begins

Netflix's record-breaking supernatural series Wednesday is undergoing a significant cast transformation as production commences on its highly anticipated third season. The streaming giant has confirmed that series regular Noah B. Taylor, who portrayed the werewolf Bruno Yuson, will not be returning to Nevermore Academy.

Departure of a Fan-Favourite Character

Taylor's character Bruno Yuson became a central figure in season two's dramatic storyline, particularly through his complicated relationship with fellow werewolf Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers. The character's arc concluded with a heartbreaking revelation of infidelity, leading to his departure from Nevermore in the season's final episodes.

This marks the second consecutive season where a romantic interest has exited the series. Previously, Percy Hynes White's character Xavier Thorpe was written out ahead of season two following misconduct allegations against the actor.

Production Underway with Returning Creative Team

Netflix announced on Monday that filming for season three has officially begun in Dublin, with visionary director Tim Burton returning to helm the project as both director and executive producer. The series remains Netflix's most-viewed original program of all time, maintaining immense global popularity.

Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar expressed their enthusiasm in a press release, stating: "It's our dark delight to fling open Nevermore Academy's gates once more as we begin production on season three. We thank our invincible cast and crew for their continued commitment to doom and gloom."

They added: "This season, we welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets. Don't say you weren't warned."

Star-Studded New Additions to the Cast

While Taylor departs, the series welcomes several high-profile newcomers:

  • Winona Ryder joins as a recurring guest star, reuniting with frequent collaborator Tim Burton and her Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-star Jenna Ortega
  • Eva Green assumes the role of Morticia Addams' long-lost sister, as previously announced
  • Additional new cast members include Chris Sarandon, Oscar Morgan, Kennedy Moyer, and another actor named Noah Taylor

Returning Favourites and Promotions

The core ensemble cast will return for the new season, including:

  • Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams
  • Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams
  • Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams
  • Hunter Doohan, Billie Piper, and Joy Sunday in their respective roles

Notably, Joanna Lumley has been promoted to series regular for season three, continuing her portrayal of Wednesday's grandmother Granmama Hester Frump. Fred Armisen will also maintain his recurring role as the eccentric Uncle Fester.

Director's Enthusiasm for the New Season

Tim Burton shared his excitement about the upcoming production, stating: "I'm so excited to be back for season three, and it's great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine — Winona, Eva, Chris, and Noah — makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky."

The cast changes and new additions signal an ambitious new direction for the Addams Family spin-off as it prepares to unveil fresh mysteries and explore deeper family secrets within its gothic universe.
