Traitors Champion Stephen Libby Diverts £48K Winnings to 'Full Survival' Mode Post-Job Exit

In an exclusive revelation, Stephen Libby, the triumphant victor of BBC's hit series The Traitors, has disclosed that his substantial £47,875 prize money is being allocated entirely to basic survival expenses following his decision to resign from his professional role. The Scotsman, who secured the win alongside fellow Traitor Rachel Duffy in a finale that captivated 9.6 million viewers last month, received the funds only recently, despite the show being filmed the previous year.

Prize Money Fuels London Living Costs as Career Shift Unfolds

The 32-year-old former cyber security consultant, now based in London but originally from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, confessed that the winnings are currently directed toward covering his rent and essential outlays in the capital. "I have the money, but I’ve not spent it," Libby explained. "I've left my job, so right now it's going on full survival. It's going to my London rent and things like that, so I’ve not made any plans for it just yet."

He further elaborated that property acquisition in London is not a feasible option with the prize sum, humorously noting, "I don’t know what properties could be bought in London with the money that I just received. Maybe 40 years ago I might have been able to, but not anymore."

Enduring Bond with Co-Winner Rachel Duffy Amid Personal Tragedy

Libby and Duffy, who split the total £95,750 prize pool, maintained a loyal partnership throughout the intense gameshow hosted by Claudia Winkleman. Tragically, Duffy's mother, Anne, who battled Parkinson’s disease and dementia, passed away shortly after the final, preventing her from creating new memories with the winnings as intended.

"I speak with Rachel all the time. We are on the phone every day almost. We are really close, and I love her family," Libby shared, highlighting their ongoing support network. He added that he has met Duffy's children and husband, Sean, during a visit to Newry in Northern Ireland, where they enjoyed a meal together.

Transition to Showbiz Life and Future Traitors Speculation

Since his victory, Libby has begun embracing a newfound celebrity status, making his debut on This Morning to present a fashion segment alongside style icon Anneka Rice. Reflecting on the experience, he said, "It was so much fun. I was very nervous because it's very different doing interviews and being asked questions, to then having to present something and leading it."

Interestingly, Anneka Rice, aged 67, is rumored to participate in a celebrity edition of The Traitors later this year, potentially alongside actors Danny Dyer and Richard E. Grant. Libby, meanwhile, expresses no regrets about his time on the show, enjoying attendance at awards ceremonies and positive feedback from fans. "Everyone who I bump into says, 'I loved you on the show,' so it's lovely. I feel very overwhelmed," he admitted.
