Stephen Libby, the 32-year-old winner of BBC's The Traitors, has revealed that his £47,875 prize money is being used for 'full survival' after he left his job as a cyber security consultant. The London-based star, originally from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, shared that the funds are covering his rent and living expenses in the capital.
Libby, who won the show alongside fellow Traitor Rachel Duffy, 42, admitted he has no plans to buy property with the winnings. 'I don't know what properties could be bought in London with the money that I just received. Maybe 40 years ago I might have been able to, but not anymore,' he told The Mirror at the Cabaret press night.
The final of the hit series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, was watched by 9.6 million viewers. Libby and Duffy split the total prize of £95,750. Tragically, Duffy's mother, who suffered from Parkinson's and dementia, passed away days after the final, preventing her from creating new memories with her winnings.
Libby remains close with Duffy, speaking to her almost daily. He has met her family and visited her in Newry, Northern Ireland. Earlier this month, he made his presenting debut on This Morning, covering the fashion segment alongside Anneka Rice, who is rumoured to be taking part in a celebrity version of The Traitors.
Reflecting on his newfound fame, Libby said, 'I've been to a couple of awards ceremonies... everyone who I bump into says, 'I loved you on the show,' so it's lovely. I feel very overwhelmed.'
