The psychological drama series The Affair, starring Ruth Wilson and Dominic West, is now available to stream for free on ITVX. Seasons 1-3 of the show, which originally aired on Showtime from 2014 to 2019, landed on the platform on March 13.
The series follows waitress Alison Lockhart (Wilson) and teacher Noah Solloway (West) as they begin an extramarital affair. Episodes are split into two parts, switching between characters' perspectives to show their differing memories of events. The cast also includes Maura Tierney as Noah's wife Helen and Joshua Jackson as Alison's husband Cole.
The Affair holds an 85% critic score and 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have praised the performances and writing, with The Daily Telegraph calling Wilson and West 'astonishing', and The Guardian noting the show becomes 'less obvious and more and more interesting' over time.
Wilson did not appear in the final season, later stating she left because she 'didn't feel safe' on set. Showrunner Sarah Treem denied a negative environment, but co-star West supported Wilson's account, saying 'everything Ruth has said is absolutely right'.
