Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing Open Up About Baby Ziggy's Birth
Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing have candidly discussed the birth of their son Ziggy and their journey into parenthood in an exclusive interview with OK!. The couple, who star in the new Disney+ series Raising Chelsea, revealed that Sophie becomes emotional every time she watches footage of Ziggy's birth, which was unexpectedly captured during filming.
Emotional Reactions to Birth Footage
Sophie Habboo confessed that she cries whenever she views the birth video, describing it as a wild and overwhelming experience. She explained, "I cry every time I watch it. It's a wild experience. I saw something the other day that the birth is like every emotion, like fireworks, like every single emotion you can imagine going off in your head." She added that having the moment documented is amazing, as it allows them to show Ziggy later in life.
Jamie Laing echoed her sentiments, calling the birth "the wildest thing ever" but in a beautiful way. The couple had not originally planned to include the birth in their documentary, but when an anaesthetist filmed it while taking photos, they felt compelled to share it with fans.
Unplanned Filming and Decision to Include Birth
Sophie detailed how the footage came to be, stating, "The anaesthetist was taking photos of the bath for us, which they do. They offered to do that and she filmed the whole thing. Then after Ziggy was born, I was looking at the photos and I realised we had it on camera and it was just so emotional." She decided to include it in the show, feeling it was the right choice after nine months of filming.
Jamie emphasized the authenticity of the moment, noting, "We didn't know we were being filmed so you're watching a couple go through what it really is like during that moment where you're about to meet your baby. It's like mind-blowing. It's crazy."
Parenthood Surprises and Protecting Ziggy
Both Sophie and Jamie are deeply in love with baby Ziggy, but as public figures, they are careful about how much they share online. Sophie admitted she is still figuring out the balance, saying, "It's along the line of 'How much do you want to share?' because lots of things are triggering for new mums and you know mums are protective. We're all going through it differently and I found it hard and complicated on how to navigate what I share on social media."
When asked about the biggest surprises of parenthood, Sophie highlighted the immense love and personal change, while Jamie humorously mentioned the size of Ziggy's poos. Raising Chelsea is now available for streaming on Disney+, offering fans an intimate look into their family life.
