Netflix crime drama Stay Close has drawn comparisons to the acclaimed series Broadchurch from viewers, who have praised its gripping storyline and strong performances. The eight-episode series, adapted from Harlan Coben's 2012 novel, was released in 2021 but continues to attract new audiences on the streaming platform.
The show boasts an impressive cast including Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage, and Sarah Parish. It holds a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics describing it as 'entertaining' and 'intense'. One fan commented: 'I have watched every single Harlan Coben series on Netflix and Amazon, and this one is one of the best.'
Stay Close follows three main characters—Megan, a suburban mother; Ray, a former photographer; and Michael, a detective—whose hidden pasts resurface when a man goes missing in their neighbourhood. The disappearance echoes a case from 17 years earlier, forcing the characters to confront long-buried secrets.
Viewers have praised the show's twists, with one saying: 'My jaw was dropped for much of the finale.' However, some critics noted that the plot can be incoherent at times, but the cast and addictive storytelling keep audiences engaged. The series is part of Coben's 14-book deal with Netflix, with previous adaptations including Safe, The Stranger, and The Woods.
All eight episodes of Stay Close are currently available to stream on Netflix.
