Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece has returned for a second season, reigniting fan curiosity about the ultimate fate of the legendary treasure. The series follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the One Piece, a treasure left by the Pirate King.
Despite the franchise spanning nearly 30 years—over 100 manga volumes and more than 1,000 anime episodes—Luffy has yet to locate the treasure. Both the manga and anime remain ongoing, with no immediate conclusion in sight. Creator Eiichiro Oda has stated he knows the ending but has kept it a secret.
In March 2025, Oda wrote the ending for the first time and sealed it in a treasure chest, which was then placed in a glass dome and sunk in the ocean. The chest will only be recovered once the series concludes. Oda previously aimed to finish the manga by 2025, but that deadline passed, and new volumes continue to release. Fans now estimate the final chapter may arrive around 2030.
One Piece season 2 is available on Netflix, while all 1,122 anime episodes can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
