Netflix Thriller The Following Has Viewers Binging Until 6am

Netflix viewers are so gripped by the thriller series The Following that some have been binge-watching it until 6am, with one fan pleading for more episodes. The show, starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, has drawn dozens of recommendations on social media after a TikTok user asked for a “dangerously addictive Netflix show to watch that will have me binging until 3am begging for another episode.”

Viewers Can't Stop Watching

One person who took up the recommendation claimed: “Had to make myself go to bed at 6am could not stop watching! A 10/10.” The series, which originally aired on Fox from 2013 to 2015, follows former FBI agent Ryan Hardy as he tries to recapture serial killer Joe Carroll after a prison breakout.

Created by Kevin Williamson, the American psychological thriller picked up three awards and 14 nominations during its run. Set across New York City, Virginia, and Maryland, the plot centres on Hardy's discovery that Carroll has assembled a murderous cult from people he met while teaching and during his incarceration.

What Is The Following About?

Emma Hill, portrayed by Valorie Curry, becomes Carroll's right-hand woman, while Carroll's son Joey Matthews (Kyle Catlett) is kidnapped by his father's devotees. The rest of the FBI team realises this marks the opening move in Carroll's broader scheme to break free from custody and reunite with his former wife Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea).

All three seasons are available to stream free of charge with adverts on Channel 5. The series is also available on Netflix for subscribers, and on Amazon Prime, where individual episodes can be bought from £2.49 and complete seasons from £19.99. Apple TV Store and Sky Store viewers can also purchase digital downloads or box sets.
