Netflix has added a new period drama, 'Train Dreams', to its streaming library, which has been hailed as a 'masterpiece' and boasts a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film, based on Denis Johnson's best-selling novella, is available from 20 November.
The story follows Robert Grainier, an orphan who grows up in the Pacific Northwest and works on the expanding railway network. After marrying Gladys, his life takes an unexpected turn, leading him to find beauty and purpose in the forests he once cut down.
The cast includes Joel Edgerton, William H. Macy, Felicity Jones, and Kerry Condon. Critics have praised the film, with one calling it 'the most hauntingly beautiful film of the year' and another declaring it 'one of the great films of the year'. Edgerton's performance has been described as 'the performance of a lifetime'.
