YouTube Launches Inaugural Recap Feature for 2025 Viewing Insights

YouTube has officially launched its inaugural Recap feature, offering users a comprehensive summary of their viewing habits over the past year. The new feature, which goes beyond previous music and gaming recaps, provides up to 12 cards highlighting top channels, interests, and personality types based on watch history.

Available now for North American users, YouTube Recap will roll out globally this week. To access it, users must be signed in to their YouTube account and navigate to the 'You' tab, where a banner reading 'Your Recap is here' will appear. Alternatively, users can visit youtube.com/Recap from a browser.

Eligibility requires users to be at least 13 years old (or the age of majority in their country) and have watch history enabled without auto-delete settings. The feature categorises viewers into one of at least 11 personality types, such as Skill Builder, Sunshiner, or Adventurer, based on their viewing preferences.

For music listeners who have streamed at least 10 hours on YouTube, the Recap will include a card showing total minutes listened, with a link to a deeper musical deep dive. YouTube also released its 'End of the Year' lists for 2025, featuring top songs and tracks with significant year-over-year growth.
