Netflix UK has added the iconic American medical drama ER to its catalogue for the first time. The show, which originally aired from 1994 to 2009, is now available in its entirety, offering all 331 episodes for streaming.
ER was created by Michael Crichton, the late author of Jurassic Park, and drew from his experiences as a Harvard-trained medical student. The series provided a realistic look at the emergency department of a Chicago hospital and catapulted George Clooney to stardom.
The show was a ratings hit and critical success, earning widespread praise. The Television Academy noted that it set the standard for all subsequent medical dramas. IGN ranked it number 80 on its list of the best TV shows of all time, calling it the gold standard.
Fans have taken to Reddit to discuss the show's arrival on Netflix UK, with one viewer commenting that the first six seasons are some of the best television ever made. Another praised the show for being low on cheese and tight on drama.
