Amanda Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm, admitted feeling 'slightly embarrassed' during an appearance on Amy Hart's Mum's Club podcast after her daughter Raven remarked she had been 'dragged up'. The shepherdess and mother of nine was introduced by former Love Island contestant Amy Hart, who listed her achievements: 'She is a shepherdess, she's got books, she's got TV shows, she's going out on tour, [and she's a mum to] Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmy and Nancy, it's Amanda Owen!'
Embarrassed by the Introduction
Amanda responded flustered: 'Hello Amy, you're stressing me out from actually even saying this because it makes me feel embarrassed. I'm like, I'm really not all that, I mean, yes, that is kind of like the vital statistics but come on.' Amy Hart empathised, saying she understood the feeling of having one's accomplishments listed and thinking, 'Okay, no I do do quite a lot.'
Daughter's 'Dragged Up' Comment
Amanda reflected on the bittersweet nature of the compliments, acknowledging pride in her achievements but also embarrassment. She shared: 'And you know, a parent of nine, it's like well yes I am, but as Raven, my eldest, said the other day, she said, "Look at what I've achieved after being dragged up." So, you do keep it real, it's like those are your achievements and if your achievements have been about my rather lapse achievements, then take it. It's all good, it's character building.'
Life at Ravenseat Farm
When asked about life as a mother of nine, the 51-year-old made light of her family home's condition: 'It's not a perfect house. I mean, I think it's perfect in that it's homely and it's welcoming, but yeah you don't want to scratch the surface too much because it's never going to look like one of those houses out of a glossy magazine, but I feel like it's got a nice vibe to it.' Ravenseat Farm, a 2,000-acre hill farm in Swaledale within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is home to Amanda and her nine children.
Co-Parenting and New Projects
Following her split from Clive Owen in 2022, Amanda has continued living and working at Ravenseat while co-parenting their children. The former couple have also been filming a project on a neighbouring property called Anty John's, which is the focus of their series Our Farm Next Door. Amanda described the renovation as a 'very slow job' involving the entire family, with substantial restoration work including fixing the roof, stonework, and fitting crucial utilities. Unlike Our Yorkshire Farm, which focused on daily life at Ravenseat, the new series chronicles the challenges of restoring a traditional Yorkshire farmhouse in an isolated location.
