Sunny Nights, a comedy drama starring Saturday Night Live's Will Forte and The Good Place's D'Arcy Carden, is now available to stream for free on ITVX in the UK. The series, created by Nick Keetch and Ty Freer, follows American siblings Martin and Vicki Marvin who relocate to Sydney to start a spray tan business, only to become entangled with the wrong people.
Cast and Premise
Forte plays Martin, with Carden as his sister Vicki. The cast also includes Rachel House from The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Jessica De Gouw from Arrow, George Mason from The Power of the Dog, Ray Chapman from Wentworth, and former professional rugby league player Willie Mason.
The show has earned a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and fans have taken to Reddit to praise it. One user, @whorificustotalus, said: “I enjoyed this so much. It starts so silly and then gets darker and darker, but still retains all the humour. Carden and Forte are magical together, it's like a mix of Platonic and Breaking Bad. And of course, there's the fish out of water element with Australia as well.”
Fan Reactions
Other Reddit users shared similar enthusiasm. @8__D wrote: “We really enjoyed this one! Some things didn't make sense, but if you can suspend your disbelief it's a fun season.” @reliks84 posted: “I'll always tune in for Will Forte. And with Bodkin not getting a second season, I'll definitely give this one a try.”
@whatacharacter commented: “It's a neat original story and well-cast to the roles. D'arcy Carden plays a very different character than I was used to seeing her as from The Good Place. The show feels halfway between dark comedy and an Ozark-type drama. There are some ridiculous situations, but the comedy comes more from snark and sarcasm. I really enjoyed it and hope we get another season.”
