Prince William's Two-Word Advice Calmed Nervous Kate Middleton, Podcaster Reveals
William's two words calmed Kate before podcast, says host

In a revealing new interview, author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher has shared a touching behind-the-scenes moment between the Prince and Princess of Wales, highlighting Prince William's supportive role during a moment of anxiety for his wife.

The Nervous Prelude to a Candid Conversation

Giovanna Fletcher, who recorded an episode of her Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast with Kate Middleton in 2020, told The Times that both women were surprisingly nervous at the start. Fletcher spent a total of 90 minutes with the future Queen, exploring the realities of motherhood.

"What I think surprised me was how nervous we both were at the top of the chat," Fletcher admitted. She reflected on the weight of the conversation, acknowledging Kate's significant influence and her ongoing early years campaigning. "I think I was nervous because of that. She was nervous because she knew that she was about to speak in a way that she'd never spoken before."

Prince William's Simple, Reassuring Intervention

According to Fletcher, Prince William intuitively sensed his wife's apprehension. He entered the room and offered succinct, practical advice to ease the tension. "Thankfully, Prince William came into the room and he said, 'Just talk,'" Fletcher recalled.

William reportedly reasoned that, as the recording was not live, any parts could be edited out later. This simple permission seemed to relax the Princess of Wales. Fletcher noted that the couple became so engrossed in the discussion that their tea went cold, and a planned 45-minute chat effortlessly stretched into a 90-minute, "no-holds-barred" interview.

A Glimpse into the Future Monarchy

Fletcher, who is also an actress, described Kate, a mother to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as being "full of heart." She expressed her belief that Kate will evolve into a sovereign who genuinely listens and remains deeply informed on the issues affecting the nation.

The podcaster further suggested that both William and Kate would approach their future roles with their "eyes completely open," bringing a welcome and understanding perspective to the monarchy. This aligns with previous comments from Prince William himself. In a conversation with actor Eugene Levy on Apple's The Reluctant Traveller, the Prince of Wales openly discussed modernising the institution.

"I think it's safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good, and I embrace that," William stated. He emphasised a thoughtful approach: "There are points when you look at tradition and go, is that still fit for purpose today?... I hope we don't go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I grew up in."

This intimate account from Giovanna Fletcher not only reveals a relatable, human moment for the senior royals but also underscores the supportive partnership that will define their future reign.
